Master Plan Public Hearing

A public hearing on the Westchester County Airport’s draft master plan will be held on Thursday, July 27 at 7 p.m. in the Little Theater at the Westchester County Center.

The public hearing will include a presentation of the draft master plan and an opportunity for attendees to comment on the draft plan.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and there will be free parking at the County Center parking lot.

The FAA requires local governments to create master plans for their airports, to forecast future use of the facility and develop a strategy for needed changes. Airport operations and the environment are among the issues that are supposed to be examined.

For those of you who are familiar with Village, Town and City planning, the airport master plan is analogous to municipal comprehensive plans.

An updated airport master plan has been drafted for Westchester County Airport. After a long wait, the draft master plan will be the subject of a public hearing next week. Given the controversies surrounding the airport – including the possibility of airport privatization – anyone who is concerned about the airport, or about land use or environmental issues in general, may want to attend and possibly comment.
