Kamora Freeland, Academy of Aviation Scholarship Recipient Kamora has already begun her flight training with the United Youth Aviators program and has obtained her student pilot certificate with future aspirations of becoming a pilot for a major airline. In addition to flight training, Kamora is the captain of her wrestling team and an active member of the Civil Air Patrol, as well as Black Pilots of America. She volunteers within her school in about every capacity possible. In her scholarship application essay, she stated “Volunteering my time and skills to help others is my way of giving back and making a difference”. To that end, she often visits a local all-girls preschool during her free time, where she engages in many educational activities with them. She is a force of nature for the good of her communities and those around her. | Joseph Barca, Tradewind Aviation Scholarship Recipient Joseph took his first introduction flight earlier this year and is excited about what aviation holds for him. He is an active member within his school, participating in several clubs: drama, campus ministry, social media, and debate club just to name a few. Additionally, he has an extensive background in volunteer work with the Special Olympics in such events as the Torch Run and Polar Plunge. Beyond that he is an Eagle Scout, focusing on such projects as building up local food pantries within his community. He is an active member of his church, Sacred Heart, where he serves as a lead alter server, reader, and a member of the choir. |
